2 people injured in East Bay freeway shooting

Two people were shot and injured while driving along Highway 24 in the East Bay late Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The shooting was reported at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, and at about 12:45 a.m. Monday, CHP officers shut down the eastbound lanes of the Highway 24 just east of Wilder Road, near Orinda, to search for evidence of the shooting. The CHP later confirmed two people had minor gunshot wounds.

The freeway lanes reopened just before 2 a.m.

CHP detectives are trying to determine a motive and identify the suspect(s) and vehicle(s) involved, the agency said. Anyone with information should call the CHP Investigative Tipline at 707-917-4491.
